As a child, playing "school" was something I took seriously. I loved learning and teaching others interesting facts or processes. I harbored that love of knowledge by becoming a teacher in public education for ten years. 

Let's be honest - about half of the learners were not excited or motivated to be at school, and quite frankly, it's tough to compete with their cell phones. Despite that, I increased engagement through building relationships, understanding my audience, and focusing on representation of my diverse student population through meaningful lessons centered around storytelling and real-world simulations.

What I have loved most about my time in education is being able to use my creativity in curriculum and content development, as well as learning new programs and applications as they were introduced.
